Compensation and Schedule for the Lab Manager (Mohs/Pathology)
Lab Manager (Mohs/Pathology) – Full-time, onsite, $35-$49 per hour, Monday to Thursday, 7:00am to 5:30pm, occasional Saturday shifts. Great team, communication, and culture!
Required Qualifications for the Lab Manager (Mohs/Pathology)
- 2+ years of recent lab management experience required
- Previous experience as a Mohs Tech and/or Histology/Pathology Tech required
- Bachelor of Science degree required
- High school diploma or GED required
- Must successfully pass a criminal background check and drug screen
Responsibilities of the Lab Manager (Mohs/Pathology)
- Supervise and support all lab staff
- Conduct annual performance reviews and provide coaching
- Address corrective actions when needed
- Approve payroll and monitor scheduling, lunches, and overtime
- Evaluate workflow and identify opportunities for improvement
- Maintain and update all CLIA and OSHA documentation
- Ensure inspection readiness at all times
- Maintain daily, weekly, monthly, and annual compliance logs
- Oversee chemical changes and regulatory documentation
- Manage send-outs and outside slide/block requests
- Monitor supply usage and ordering trends
- Order lab materials and run reports to evaluate spending/inventory levels
- Research vendors for potential cost savings
- Coordinate equipment maintenance and service calls
- Maintain vendor relationships
- Within the Mohs lab: accession and gross tissue, embed frozen sections, cut tissue using a cryostat, stain, coverslip, and label slides, and change chemicals as required
- Within the Pathology lab: accession and gross tissue, embed in paraffin, cut sections using a microtome, stain and coverslip slides, perform special stains and IHC manually, and transcribe pathology reports
- Travel to other east valley location when needed
